Dendy Awards For Australian Short Films

Sydney Film Festival's first Australian short film awards were presented in 1970, and the festival has been showcasing the best local short film productions in competition ever since.
The awards presented to Dendy competition films are the Dendy Live Action Short Award, the Yoram Gross Animation Award and the Rouben Mamoulian Award for Best Director.

Official Competition

Twelve features are selected for Official Competition, SFF's flagship program, on the basis that they demonstrate `emotional power and resonance; are audacious, cutting-edge, courageous; and go beyond the usual treatment of the subject matter'.

Short Films

The festival's line-up of short films, which screen before features throughout the festival, are often funny, frequently lewd, sometimes shocking and often heartbreaking. It's lot to pack into a few minutes, so arrive early - these cinematic appetisers deserve your full viewing attention.

Sounds On Screen
